They’ve meant more than I can say. This community surprised me. You surprised me. And you deserve an honest update.

So here it is, as honest as I can make it.

I’m okay.

But okay doesn’t mean comfortable.

It doesn’t mean I have it figured out.

And it definitely doesn’t mean this season has been easy.

Because it hasn’t.

If I’m being real with you — and I’ve always tried to be real with you — what’s happening in my life right now is the most terrifying thing I’ve ever walked through. My identity is being remade. The way I’ve thought about my career, my purpose, my income, how I show up in the world — all of it is shifting. And I’m doing it without a clear map, without a guaranteed outcome, following a God who keeps asking me to trust Him one step at a time.

I’ve never done anything like this before.

And yet — and this is the part I can’t fully explain — underneath all of it there is a peace that has no business being there. It doesn’t make sense. Things are shifting, unclear, unsettled. By every natural measure I should be unraveling.

But I’m not.

There’s something quiet and steady at the bottom of all this chaos that I didn’t put there and couldn’t manufacture if I tried. Honestly, that peace is one of the clearest signs to me that the Lord is in this. Because it’s not mine. It’s His.

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:7

I spent my whole life building through the world’s framework. Career. Platform. Audience. Metrics. Even when I pivoted to God-centered content, if I’m honest, some of that old drive was still underneath it — the hunger to grow, to be discovered, to matter in the way the world measures mattering.

The Lord has been dismantling that. Slowly at first. Now all at once. And the dismantling is not painless.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” — Jeremiah 29:11

I’m holding onto that. Some days loosely. But I’m holding on.

I’ve been mentored for the first time in my life — really mentored, by someone who showed up and sat with me and walked me through what it means to follow Jesus not as a content strategy but as a way of life.

I’ve done healing work with Christ at the center in a way I never had before. I’ve gone back to hard places in my past and brought Him into them.

My wife and I are building something together that feels more real and more alive than anything I’ve tried to build online. My daughter is four years old and she already loves Jesus, and I want to be present for that. Fully present. Not half-here while the other half is managing a content calendar.

So I’m stepping back. From publishing. From the platforms. From the performance of it all. Not because I’ve lost faith — but because I’m finally learning what faith actually costs.

There’s a pattern in Scripture I keep coming back to. Moses in the desert. David in the wilderness. Paul in Arabia. Jesus — forty days away before anything began.

The Lord takes people into hiddenness before He sends them anywhere worth going. I believe that’s what this is. And I want to be obedient to it even when it’s scary. Maybe especially when it’s scary.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” — Proverbs 3:5-6

I don’t know what comes next. I have inklings. A book. A deeper walk. A simpler, quieter way of doing this that belongs to God instead of to an algorithm. But I’m not going to pretend I have it mapped out. I don’t. I just know He does. And I’m learning — slowly, imperfectly — to let that be enough.

Keep seeking Him. Keep reading the Word. Keep showing up for the people right in front of you.

That’s what I’m doing too. I’ll carry this community with me into the quiet.

I’ll still be reachable via email and DMs, so if you want to connect, feel free to do so.

I will continue to update you as I gain clarity on the life the Lord has in store for me and my family.

I genuinely love y’all.

In Him,

Brandon

Breaking Chains: Mac Dohm's Journey from the Darkness of Porn to the Light of Faith | Ep. 136

Finding Freedom in Christ

Brandon Ward 😎

This raw, honest conversation tackles one of the most destructive forces threatening Christian men today: pornography addiction. After hitting rock bottom during his divorce—even contemplating suicide—Mac encountered Christ in his darkest moment. Now traveling the country in an RV, he dedicates his life to helping other men avoid the shipwreck he experienced.

Find Mac’s work:

Substack:

Email: pornfreemillennialcoaching@gmail.com

Free 1-hour consultation available

Key Timestamps & Insights

[00:00 - 04:10] The Pain That Sparked a Mission Mac shares how divorce and contemplating suicide drove him to help other men. The destruction porn caused in his five-year marriage became the catalyst for his calling.

[04:10 - 08:00] Creating Porn Free Millennial While Married The irony: Mac started his ministry while sober for two years during marriage. Distance from support systems and unresolved issues led to relapse and eventual divorce.

[08:00 - 15:30] Why Porn Is Harder to Quit Than Drugs No immediate physical consequence makes porn uniquely dangerous. It’s accessible, anonymous, and decays your soul gradually—making it easy to rationalize.

[15:30 - 25:00] The Spiritual Dimension of Porn Addiction Mac’s breakthrough moment in Colombia when Christ met him in the guest bedroom. Understanding porn as spiritual warfare, not just a behavioral problem.

[25:00 - 35:00] Marriage, Secrets, and Soul Decay How hiding porn use creates distance even when your spouse doesn’t know. The integrity damage happens internally first, then manifests in the relationship.

[35:00 - 45:00] The Role of Accountability and Truth Mac’s daily check-ins with his younger brother. Why honesty is the foundation of freedom. The difference between white-knuckling sobriety and true transformation.

[45:00 - 55:00] Christ as the Answer to Sexual Brokenness Why behavioral modification fails without spiritual renewal. How surrendering to Christ provides power that willpower alone cannot.

[55:00 - 67:00] Hope for Those Still Struggling Mac’s message to men fighting this battle: You’re not alone. You have deep power within you through Christ. Your dirty cloth can be made white as snow.

The Truth About Porn Addiction That Nobody Talks About

1. It’s Spiritual Warfare, Not Just a Bad Habit Porn isn’t merely a behavioral problem—it’s a tool of the enemy designed to destroy your soul, your marriage, and your calling. Understanding this changes how you fight.

2. Anonymity Is a Lie Even in incognito mode, you’re being tracked. More importantly, God sees. The shame of hiding creates more damage than the act itself.

3. The Gradual Soul Decay Unlike drugs that might kill you physically, porn kills you spiritually—slowly enough that you don’t notice until you’re drowning. Your integrity, your relationships, your witness all erode gradually.

4. Marriage Doesn’t Fix It Mac was two years sober when he got married. Without ongoing support and Christ-centered healing, even long sobriety can crumble.

5. Truth Is the Path to Freedom Every lie you tell yourself, every secret you keep, adds another chain. Radical honesty—with God, an accountability partner, and yourself—breaks those chains.

Three Action Steps You Can Take Today

1. Tell Someone the Truth Find one trustworthy brother in Christ and confess where you’re struggling. Not next week. Today. The power of secret shame breaks when you bring it into the light.

2. Set Up Real Accountability Daily check-ins, not weekly. Mac and his brother text every single day. Consistency matters more than intensity.

3. Invite Christ Into Your Battle Stop trying to white-knuckle your way to sobriety. Surrender this to Christ. Ask Him for the power you don’t have. He meets you in your weakness.

Why This Matters for Christian Men Right Now

Pornography has become the acceptable sin in Christian circles—the thing we don’t talk about in small groups, the struggle we minimize, the addiction we excuse as “just looking.”

But porn is destroying Christian marriages at epidemic rates. It’s crippling men’s ability to lead their families spiritually. It’s creating a generation of believers who know doctrine but lack power because they’re living in secret shame.

Mac’s story proves that freedom is possible. Not through human willpower, but through the transforming power of Christ. Not through perfection, but through brutal honesty and consistent accountability.

If you’re struggling with porn, hear this: You’re not alone. You’re not beyond hope. Christ will walk you through this.

Connect With Mac Dohm

Substack: (weekly newsletters and resources)
Podcast: Interviews, perspectives, and practical help
Coaching: Free consultation available - pornfreemillennialcoaching@gmail.com

Mac offers free one-hour consultations. Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you.’” (Matthew 7:21-23)

I never knew you.

Those might be the most terrifying words in all of Scripture. Because they reveal a truth that cultural Christianity desperately wants to avoid: believing in Jesus and actually following Jesus are two completely different things.

My conversation with Sasha Lipskaia brought this reality into sharp focus in a way I didn’t anticipate. Here’s a woman who was baptized at six years old in the Russian Orthodox Church. Who believed in God her entire life. Who spoke about Jesus freely. Who even incorporated Christ into her spiritual practices and coaching work.

And yet for 30 years, she didn’t truly know Him.

This isn’t a story about someone who rejected God and came back. This is about someone who thought they were with God all along - only to discover they’d been dancing around the truth rather than surrendering to it.

The Deception of 95% Truth

Sasha’s journey took her through yoga studios, energy healing modalities, goddess archetypes, and tantric practices that promised enlightenment and self-realization. She became a successful coach helping others find their “divine feminine,” teaching meditation and spiritual practices that felt deeply meaningful.

And here’s what makes her story so important: she never rejected Jesus during any of it.

She would talk about Christ consciousness. Reference Christian mystics. Feel moved when she heard Jesus’ name. She even went to church occasionally, read parts of the Bible, and genuinely considered herself a follower of Christ.

But as she powerfully describes in our conversation: “It was 95% truth - and that’s what makes it so alluring. But there’s 5% that says ‘you are God, and the divine is you.’ And that 5% is the poison that corrupts everything else.”

This is the brilliance of the enemy’s strategy. He doesn’t need to get you to reject Jesus outright. He just needs to convince you that you can follow Jesus AND follow yourself. That you can worship God AND worship your own truth. That you can submit to Christ AND maintain sovereignty over your own life.

The New Age movement isn’t dangerous because it’s completely false. It’s dangerous because it takes legitimate spiritual hunger - the hunger for connection with God - and redirects it toward self-worship dressed in spiritual language.

As Sasha puts it: “I thought I wanted to know God and be intimate with Him. And the enemy gave me exactly that - except it was: ‘You ARE God. And this is God and this is God.’ I was creating a theology that served me while saying I wanted to die to my ego.”

Share

The Moment Everything Changed

For over a year, God had been seeding Himself visibly in Sasha’s life. She’d hear Jesus’ name in conversations and feel something stir. She’d feel protective when people spoke against Him. But she kept putting Him off.

It started simply: she wanted to go to church for Easter. The door was closed. Tomorrow, she thought. Tomorrow came - yoga class and tantra class were scheduled. She went to yoga. It started raining. She’d change and then go to church. She changed. Time for tantra class. She didn’t go.

And all day, she felt this weight. Like she’d let down someone she loved.

The next week was Pentecost. She was in bed, praying - not meditating this time, but genuinely praying. And her prayer had always been simple: “Show me the truth. What is the truth?”

She describes what happened next with raw honesty:

“I’m asking ‘what’s the truth, what’s the truth?’ And I didn’t know Scripture well enough to realize Jesus said ‘I am the truth, I am the way, I am the life.’ But I could feel Him in front of me. There was no answer - there was just Him. And I hear: ‘Go to church. Your answer is go to church.’”

This time, she obeyed.

The Gospel reading that day was from John 1 - the story of Nathanael under the fig tree. Jesus tells Nathanael, “I saw you under the tree,” and Nathanael responds, “You are the Son of God!”

And Sasha realized: Jesus had been seeing her all along. Under the tree. In her bed. Through all her spiritual seeking. Through all her New Age practices. He saw her. But she hadn’t been seeing Him.

“My whole life I was seeking Him, wanting Him, saying I believed in Him, calling His name, being in church, praying. But I did not know Him. I did not make an effort to truly know Him. I wasn’t open to receiving Him in the way He’d been knocking. I was there, but I chose not to follow Him. I chose not to receive Him.”

That’s the heartbreak of cultural Christianity. That’s the danger of thinking belief is enough.

What Radical Obedience Looks Like

The transformation that followed was immediate and complete.

Sasha didn’t gradually transition her business. She didn’t slowly phase out the New Age practices. She dropped everything. Stopped all her marketing. Stopped the energy work. Stopped the goddess teachings. Stopped identifying with any spiritual practice that wasn’t explicitly, biblically Christian.

Her clients could feel the shift. Some understood. Some walked away.

And she spent the next months doing what she should have been doing all along: reading the Bible cover to cover, going to church consistently, repenting daily, praying constantly, and learning what it actually means to follow Christ.

Because here’s what she discovered: the devil also believes in Jesus. He was the first believer. He knows exactly who Christ is. But he doesn’t follow Him.

“Make sure you don’t either,” she says. “That’s his job.”

Believing isn’t enough. Believing gets you nothing if it doesn’t transform into obedience.

And obedience - true biblical obedience - isn’t about checking boxes or following rules. It’s about dying to yourself daily. It’s about surrendering your will to His. It’s about loving Him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength - and letting that love overflow into how you live.

Subscribe now

The Peace That Isn’t Peaceful

One of the most challenging parts of our conversation was when Sasha talked about peace.

In the New Age movement, peace means zen. Serenity. Calm. Ascending to a higher state where nothing bothers you. It’s the “Xanax smile” - numb to the world’s suffering, floating above it all in spiritual superiority.

But Christ’s peace is radically different.

“His peace is very different from worldly peace,” Sasha explains. “His peace is ‘I’m carrying my cross every day. I choose to die for you because it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.’”

When you truly follow Christ, you don’t become zen. You become more aware of suffering - His suffering, the world’s suffering. You feel it with Him. But you’re not crushed by it because you’re suffering WITH Him, not alone.

“You are never going to be zen because you are going to feel Him suffering with the world in every moment,” she says. “But you’re not taking it on as empathy that drowns you. You’re in His compassion - suffering WITH Him, not separate from Him.”

This is why following Christ will never be easy. Your life will not be full of worldly peace. You won’t ascend to some enlightened state where you know everything and nothing troubles you.

Instead, you’ll know nothing. You’ll be aware of how terrible you are. Your only hope will be in Him. And every single day you’ll cry out: “God have mercy on me, a sinner.”

And somehow, in that complete surrender, in that radical humility, you’ll find the greatest joy you’ve ever known.

The Question for You

As I talked with Sasha, I kept thinking about Mary’s response to the angel: “Let it be to me according to your word.”

What if she had said “I’m not sure. I don’t know about this”? Mary’s “yes” changed history. Her obedience opened the door for God to enter humanity in the most intimate way possible.

And every day, God is asking each of us for that same consent. That same surrender. That same obedience.

The question isn’t whether you believe in Jesus. The demons believe in Jesus.

The question is: Will you follow Him?

Will you open the Bible and let His Word actually speak to you - not as quotes you can appropriate, but as living truth that judges your heart?

Will you repent daily, confess your sins, and allow yourself to be transformed rather than just informed?

Will you die to yourself and let Christ live through you?

Will you trust that His way - even when it makes no sense, even when it costs you everything - is better than any path you could choose for yourself?

Maybe you’re reading this and realizing that you’ve been where Sasha was. You believe in God. You talk about Jesus. You might even go to church. But you’ve never actually opened the Bible and let it pierce your heart. You’ve never truly repented. You’ve never surrendered your will to His.

Or maybe you’re deep in New Age practices, spiritual seeking, yoga philosophy, energy work - and you feel that same hunger Sasha describes. That yearning for truth. That sense that there’s something more.

Here’s what I want you to know: if you’re genuinely seeking truth, you will land on Christ. Not some version of Christ that fits your theology. Not Christ consciousness or Christ energy. But Jesus Christ - the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

And He’s been waiting for you. Seeing you. Pursuing you. Seeding Himself in your life in ways you haven’t recognized yet.

All He’s waiting for is your consent. Your obedience. Your surrender.

The question is: are you ready to stop saying “not yet” and finally say “yes, Lord”?

Full Episode Timestamps:

00:00 - Opening: What Obedience to Christ Really Means
02:04 - Brandon’s Reflection on Fellowship Through Faith
03:22 - Sasha’s Background: Growing Up Between Russia, Judaism, and Orthodoxy
15:55 - Baptism at Six: A Moment of Divine Encounter
20:15 - Years of Spiritual Seeking: New Age, Yoga, Energy Work
24:40 - The Dangerous Mixture: 95% Truth with 5% Deadly Poison
30:45 - The Moment Everything Changed: God’s Pursuit Becomes Undeniable
38:52 - What Brought Sasha to Church: The Weight of Disobedience
45:10 - Under the Tree: Jesus Reveals “I See You”
50:28 - The Heartbreak of Realizing You Never Truly Knew Him
54:48 - Radical Repentance: Dropping Everything to Follow Christ
58:10 - The Difference Between Believer and Follower
1:08:42 - Spiritual Warfare: The Power of Jesus’ Name
1:13:44 - Biblical Peace vs. Worldly Peace
1:20:31 - Abraham’s Test: The Muscle of Obedience
1:27:50 - Final Words: The Call to Deeper Love and Trust

A Challenge:

Don’t just consume this conversation and move on. Let it transform you.

If you haven’t truly read the Bible - not just cherry-picked verses that make you feel good, but the actual Word of God from beginning to end - start today. Open Genesis. Read it like God is actually speaking to you.

Because He is.

If you’ve been incorporating Jesus into your spiritual practice rather than making Him your foundation - repent. Ask Him to reveal where you’ve been settling for cultural Christianity instead of genuine relationship.

If you’ve been believing in God but not following Him - examine your life. Does your daily living reflect obedience to Christ, or obedience to yourself?

This isn’t about becoming perfect. It’s about becoming His.

And that journey starts with a simple prayer: “Show me the truth. Not my truth. Not a truth. THE truth. Jesus, show me who You really are.”

He will answer. He always does.

The question is whether you’ll have the courage to obey when He does.

Connect with Sasha Lipskaia:

Her Substack

https://www.sashalipskaia.com/

https://www.youtube.com/@SashaLipskaiaMedia

Support This Ministry:

https://orderwithinpodcast.com/

Buy Me a Coffee: buymeacoffee.com/orderwithin

My wife’s RedBubble store that focuses on God-Centered merchandise: https://rdbl.co/4gCqi5z

Contact: orderwithin@substack.com

Order Within is a reader-supported publication. Julie and I dive deep into the actual historical origins of Christmas traditions, unpacking myths that get repeated year after year, and discovering how God invites us to use our minds - not shut them off - when approaching His Word.

What You’ll Discover in This Conversation

The Real Story Behind Christmas Trees
Forget what you’ve heard about pagan origins. Julie shares the incredible account of Saint Boniface and how the Christmas tree actually represents a powerful Christian testimony of God’s triumph over false worship. The truth is far more beautiful than the myths.

Saint Nicholas and the Gospel Picture
The real story of Saint Nicholas isn’t about a jolly elf - it’s a stunning picture of Christ’s redemptive work. When you hear how Nicholas actually saved three sisters from slavery, you’ll never see Santa the same way again.

Why December 25th Matters (Even If It’s Not Exact)
Was Jesus actually born on December 25th? Probably not. Does that make Christmas meaningless? Absolutely not. Julie breaks down why the celebration matters even when we can’t pin down exact dates, and what this teaches us about worship versus legalism.

The Intellectual Depth of Christianity
One of the most powerful themes in this conversation is how God doesn’t ask for blind faith - He invites us to wrestle, reason, and dig deep. If you’ve ever felt like Christianity requires you to “check your brain at the door,” this conversation will revolutionize your perspective.

Wrestling with Scripture Is Part of the Journey
From Job’s arguments with God to Jesus using the Socratic method with religious leaders, the Bible itself demonstrates that questioning, wrestling, and seeking understanding are fundamental to genuine faith - not obstacles to it.

Key Moments & Timestamps

[00:03:42] The danger of “shorthand” Christianity and urban legends
[00:05:58] Brandon’s journey: from intellectual skepticism to discovering the Bible’s depth
[00:07:25] The Christmas tree myth debunked: Saint Boniface and the Thunder Oak
[00:18:03] The beautiful backstory of Saint Nicholas and redemption
[00:31:45] Was Jesus really born on December 25th?
[00:45:12] The importance of source materials and honest inquiry
[00:58:30] Why Christianity doesn’t require blind faith
[01:13:46] God gave us brains for a reason - let’s use them
[01:15:30] The archaeological evidence supporting biblical history
[01:18:03] Julie’s upcoming projects and recommended resources

Why This Matters for Your Faith Journey

If you’ve ever felt torn between intellectual honesty and faith, this conversation offers genuine hope. Julie demonstrates what it looks like to be both a rigorous scholar and a devoted follower of Christ - proving these aren’t contradictory positions but complementary ones.

Whether you’re:

New to faith and wrestling with questions about Christian traditions

A longtime believer who wants to go deeper than surface-level understanding

Someone who loves the intellectual depth of Scripture

A parent wanting to pass on faith with integrity and honesty

Curious about the real history behind Christmas celebrations

This conversation will challenge myths, deepen your understanding, and remind you that God designed us to seek, question, and discover truth - not to settle for comfortable half-truths.

Resources Mentioned

Julie’s Book: Exiting Egypt - Julie is generously offering free digital copies of her book. This will be for a limited time only, so get your copy while you can. If you decide to take her up on the gift, a review of her book would be greatly appreciated!

Julie’s Upcoming Podcast: “Oh Wow, That Really Happened” - A true crimes approach to obscure Bible stories

Recommended Resources:

Wave Nunnally - Dead Sea Scrolls scholar and conservative Christian teacher

Craig Keener - Biblical scholarship

Biblical Archaeology

Expedition Bible - YouTube channel going through various Biblical sites and discoveries

Connect with Julie West

Julie is a Bible teacher, author, and on-air personality at Z 88.3 in Orlando. She’s been featured on Fox News, various media outlets, and brings decades of theological study combined with practical teaching that makes Scripture accessible without dumbing it down.

My Reflection

One of the things that continues to blow my mind about Christianity is discovering how intellectually robust it actually is. I came to faith thinking I’d have to set aside my love of learning and reason - only to discover that God actually invites us into the deepest intellectual pursuit imaginable: knowing Him.

Julie embodies this beautifully. Her love for accuracy, source materials, and historical truth doesn’t diminish her faith - it deepens it. And her reminder that we’re commanded to “come, let us reason together” is something I needed to hear early in my walk with Christ.

The Bible isn’t mythology. It’s not just rules or nice stories. It’s a living text documenting real history, real people, real events, and our ongoing relationship with the God who created us and wants to be known.

Join the Conversation

What myths about Christmas or Christianity have you had to unlearn? Have you experienced the intellectual depth of Scripture in ways that surprised you? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

And if you found this conversation valuable, share it with someone who might be wrestling with similar questions about faith and reason.

Listen to the full episode wherever you get your podcasts, or watch on YouTube.

Until next time, keep seeking, keep wrestling, and keep growing in the knowledge of our incredible God.

In Christ,
Brandon

Order Within is a Christian ministry dedicated to authentic biblical teaching and genuine fellowship. How do we honor what God is doing through imperfect vessels while calling out when institutions drift from biblical truth?

Spiritual Warfare in Christian Spaces (00:50:00 - 01:10:00) Brian shares powerful insights about recognizing dark influence in Christian spaces—particularly how the enemy uses division, judgment, and theological arrogance to destroy authentic community. How to discern between Spirit-led conviction and demonic accusation.

Grace, Patience & Encouragement (01:10:00 - 01:27:00) The transformative power of choosing to encourage rather than critique, to blow on the flames rather than throw water on sparks. Why mature believers should focus on building up those early in their faith journey rather than constantly correcting minor theological imperfections.

Closing Thoughts (01:27:00 - 01:30:24) Expressions of gratitude for the community gathered and commitment to continuing these spirit-led conversations that build authentic fellowship.

Key Themes to Reflect On

The Institutional Church vs. The Body of Christ

We explored the crucial distinction between the church as an institution and the church as the actual body of believers. The institution may fail, may compromise, may drift from biblical truth—but the body of Christ remains.

Our calling is to build authentic fellowship that prioritizes a relationship with God over religious performance.

Spiritual Discernment in Online Spaces

There’s a real spiritual battle happening in Christian digital communities. The enemy uses theological arrogance, divisive correction, and constant judgment to destroy the very fellowship we’re called to build. Learning to recognize these attacks—and respond with grace rather than engaging the enemy’s tactics—is essential for authentic community.

Encouragement Over Correction

When you see someone excited about their faith, even if their theology isn’t perfectly refined, the mature response is encouragement. Blow on the flames. Let the Holy Spirit do the refining work. Unless someone is intentionally teaching false doctrine, our role is to build up, not tear down.

Divine Appointments & Timely Words

God orchestrates encounters and brings people into our lives at exactly the right moment. That encouraging message that lands in your inbox when you need it most? That’s not a coincidence—that’s the Lord moving through His people.

Questions for Personal Reflection

When you encounter believers who are excited about their faith but perhaps immature in their understanding, do you tend toward correction or encouragement?

Are you building authentic Christian community in your life, or are you settling for religious performance and institutional participation?

How can you recognize the difference between Holy Spirit conviction and enemy accusation in your own spiritual walk?

Who in your life needs an encouraging word today? Is the Spirit prompting you to reach out?

Join the Conversation

The beauty of these livestreams is the community that gathers—not just Bryan and me, but the faithful brothers and sisters who show up each week. Kevin helps everyday believers love like Jesus and live like missionaries right where they already are: at work, in their neighborhoods, with their families.

After years in church and business leadership, Kevin devoted his life to equipping people to multiply disciples through simple, reproducible, Spirit-led communities.

As Southeast Regional Director for the Missionary Church Connect region and co-leader of the National Network of Disciple Makers, Kevin is seeing the church rediscover its original design—transformational communities multiplying in the power of the Spirit.

This episode is for anyone who’s ever felt spiritually hungry despite regular church attendance, anyone wrestling with what authentic Christian community really looks like, and anyone sensing God might be calling them to something beyond the Sunday morning experience.

What You’ll Discover

On Spiritual Poverty and God’s Pursuit
Kevin shares his upbringing in rural North Alabama marked by what he calls “spiritual poverty”—a family with no knowledge of Jesus, growing up in a cycle that felt inescapable. Yet even in that environment, God pursued him through small moments and faithful neighbors. His story reminds us that God’s reach extends far beyond church buildings and religious programs.

The Crisis in Traditional Church Leadership
Sitting in his third hour of a staff meeting trying to keep big givers from leaving, Kevin experienced a Holy Spirit confrontation: “If I’m lying on my deathbed 40-50 years from now and this is how I spent my life, I would be miserable.” That moment launched him toward radical obedience—walking away from salary, status, and the American church model he’d invested years building.

When Sundays Hit Differently
Without a building and weekly services, Kevin admits Sundays can feel painful. Traditional ministry offers “fleshly satisfaction”—seeing everyone in one room, hearing people call you “pastor,” having visible productivity. In organic disciple-making, your flesh gets “ripped apart” as you trade recognition for faithful obedience in small, often invisible ways.

The Partnership Model
This isn’t about tearing down traditional churches. Kevin sees a beautiful partnership: attractional churches reaching people who might never encounter Jesus otherwise, while organic movements meet people where they are and multiply disciples through everyday relationships. The kingdom needs both.

Apostolic Gifting and Creating Pathways
Many Christians sense God’s call but don’t know what to do next. Kevin explains how apostolic gifting focuses on creating clear, reproducible pathways—seeing the forest while evangelists see the trees. About 80% of believers aren’t designed to create these pathways themselves; they need someone to show them the way.

The Cost of Multiplication
Kevin shares the story of a missionary in a restricted nation where the average lifespan after coming to Christ is 36 days. That’s the kind of costly discipleship the early church knew. While we might not face the same persecution, authentic disciple-making still requires dying to self, comfort, and the approval of others.

Key Timestamps

[00:00:00] Kevin’s opening reflection on hopelessness and transformation
[00:03:01] Growing up in spiritual poverty in rural North Alabama
[00:07:24] First encounters with Jesus through VBS and faithful neighbors
[00:12:42] The 15-day fast that changed everything
[00:16:30] Journey through traditional church planting and leadership
[00:22:15] The staff meeting that became a Holy Spirit confrontation
[00:28:45] Walking away from salary and status for radical obedience
[00:35:20] What a simple/organic church actually looks like
[00:41:10] When Sundays hit differently without a building
[00:47:30] The partnership between attractional and organic churches
[00:53:45] Understanding apostolic gifting and creating pathways
[00:58:20] Why most believers struggle to know their next step
[01:01:02] The forest and the trees—apostles vs. evangelists
[01:04:07] Resources and next steps for the curious

Quotes Worth Remembering

On God’s Pursuit:
“I can remember being completely hopeless and helpless and thinking that the rest of my life was gonna be like what I’d seen from all the rest of my family. Literally the birds were singing for the first time in my life. Everything looked different.”

On Radical Obedience:
“I was sitting in a staff meeting on a Monday morning, our third hour trying to figure out how to keep the biggest givers from leaving. The Holy Spirit confronted me—if I’m lying on my deathbed 40-50 years from now and this is how I spent my life, I would be miserable.”

On Flesh vs. Spirit:
“When you don’t have a building, Sundays hit differently. It’s fleshly satisfying—people knowing who I am, calling me pastor, listening to me talk for 45 minutes. None of that exists in the organic world. Your flesh just gets ripped apart.”

On Costly Discipleship:
“He’s a missionary to that country and the average lifespan of someone after they’ve come to know Jesus is 36 days. It’s unbelievable.”

Brandon’s Reflection:
“Every day I feel so deeply unworthy and incapable of doing what I feel God is pushing me to do.”

Resources & Next Steps

Connect with Kevin Beasley:

Substack/Website: Kevin E. Kevin’s journey from traditional pastor to organic disciple-maker mirrors the kind of radical obedience God calls each of us toward in different ways.

Whether you’re called to traditional church leadership, organic movements, or simply faithful presence in your everyday contexts, the core principle remains: Are you willing to let God strip away the fleshly satisfactions of recognition, comfort, and visible success in exchange for deeper obedience?

Kevin reminds us that the kingdom needs different kinds of workers. Some plant, some water, some create pathways, some walk those pathways, and invite others along.

The question isn’t which model is “better”—it’s which calling God has placed on your specific life.

For those of us who’ve felt like spiritual “black sheep,” Kevin’s work offers both validation and direction.

You’re not crazy for wanting something more. You’re not wrong for questioning if Sunday morning is enough. God might be inviting you into a different kind of faithful obedience—one that looks more like the early church than modern American Christianity.

Closing Reflection

God reaches out to us constantly. Kevin said it at the beginning of our conversation, and it’s worth repeating: whatever you’re feeling, whatever pull you sense, just answer it. Let Him lead you one step at a time.

You don’t have to have it all figured out. You don’t need the complete pathway laid out before you take the first step. You just need to be willing to say yes to what He’s showing you right now, today, in this moment.

Maybe that’s reaching out to Kevin to learn more. Maybe it’s starting to pray about living more missionally where you already are. Maybe it’s simply acknowledging that God might be calling you to something that doesn’t fit the traditional mold.

Whatever it is—answer the call. Take the step. Trust that He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.

Support the Ministry

⛪️ Join the Community: https://orderwithinpodcast.com

☕ (0:00 - 5:30)

“It’s been eight years since I did a live stream...”

I share my history creating political content in 2017, growing to 5,000 subscribers, and why I burned out and walked away. The toxicity of political discourse, demonetization, and the fascination with Trump’s 2016 election all played a role. But something has shifted - and it’s time to return to live, unfiltered dialogue.

Key Moment: The decision to leave political content behind and the journey toward Christ-centered ministry

Bible Study: Standing Firm in Truth (5:30 - 10:00)

“You belong to God, my dear children...”

I open with my Bible study from 1 John 4:4-6, sharing how morning time in scripture has become the most enriching practice of my life. I reflect on how I’ve read hundreds of self-help books, searched through countless philosophies, but nothing compares to the truth and power found in God’s Word.

Scripture Focus: 1 John 4:4-6 - Victory over false spirits through God’s power within us

Personal Testimony: How scripture transformed my understanding after years of seeking through self-help and philosophy

Why Live Dialogue Matters (10:00 - 18:00)

“You miss the cadence in someone’s voice, their expressions...”

The limitations of comment section theology and keyboard debates. I explain why seeing faces, hearing inflection, and witnessing genuine human connection changes everything.

The Charlie Kirk event inspired me to step back into live streaming - because authentic dialogue is worth the risk.

Community Reflection: The joy of Substack conversations and the hunger for deeper connection

Cultural Observation: How we lose context and compassion when we reduce dialogue to typed comments

Political Independence & Faith Integration (18:00 - 26:00)

“I hope that it doesn’t cancel me out...”

I share shares his political journey: Bush supporter in 2004, discovering Ron Paul in 2008, becoming an independent voter, and eventually voting for Trump. But more importantly, I explain why I can no longer separate faith from political reality when one side actively denies God’s created order.

Honest Confession: The tension of political independence while recognizing objective truth about cultural degradation

Faith Stance: Why Christians cannot in good conscience support ideologies that contradict God’s Word

Addressing Critics: Responding to DMs calling him ignorant, while maintaining humility about not having all answers

The Call to Repentance & Humility (26:00 - 32:00)

“We have to first humble ourselves before God...”

A powerful reminder that transformation starts with looking within, not pointing fingers outward. I reflect on my own arrogance in earlier years and the daily practice of repentance and gratitude for God’s grace through Jesus Christ.

Spiritual Practice: How 1 John provides the framework for discerning truth from deception

Personal Growth: My journey from arrogance to humility through genuine relationship with Christ

Community Encouragement: The explosion of people exploring God and Christ for the first time

Cultural Analysis: Gaslighting & Radicalization (32:00 - 42:00)

“The gaslighting and scapegoating... I can’t tolerate it anymore.”

I address the elephant in the room: the constant characterization of Christians and conservatives as Nazis, fascists, and threats to democracy. I examine how this rhetoric radicalizes people, creates psychological abuse, and demands violent response - and why Christians must refuse to take the bait.

Media Critique: The imbalance in institutional narratives (universities, mainstream media, entertainment)

Christian Response: Why responding with love and truth matters more than winning political battles

Hope Factor: Independent media rising up to counter institutional narratives

Scripture & False Teaching (42:00 - 44:00)

“We have to read scripture... the false rapture, prime example”

A passionate plea to engage with scripture directly rather than relying on popular teachings that may not align with biblical truth. I challenge common Christian assumptions (like the rapture doctrine) and encourages personal study.

Biblical Literacy: The importance of reading God’s Word for yourself

False Doctrine Alert: Questioning popular end-times theology against scripture

Jesus’ Return: Knowing Christ is coming back while staying grounded in present faithfulness

Closing: The Invitation (44:00 - 46:39)

“Call Him into your life, man. Let the spirit lead you.”

I wrap with gratitude for the community, commitment to weekly live streams, and a heartfelt invitation to anyone watching or listening: bring Jesus into your life. The transformation is real when we open our hearts to Him.

Weekly Commitment: Live streams continuing every week

Final Encouragement: Read your Bible, invite Jesus in, let the Spirit lead

Community Appreciation: Gratitude for those engaging authentically in the journey

Key Themes & Takeaways

1. Authentic Dialogue Over Keyboard Combat Live streaming allows for nuance, tone, and human connection that comment sections can’t provide. Real transformation happens in face-to-face conversation (even digital).

2. Faith Cannot Be Separated from Reality When cultural ideologies directly contradict God’s created order and biblical truth, Christians cannot remain neutral or silent. This isn’t about political parties - it’s about objective truth.

3. Repentance & Humility Come First Before pointing fingers at the world’s problems, we must look within, repent of our own arrogance and sin, and humble ourselves before God. Transformation starts with personal surrender.

4. Scripture Is Your Foundation Don’t rely on popular Christian teaching alone. Read God’s Word for yourself, let the Holy Spirit guide you, and test everything against biblical truth.

5. Love Over Retaliation Even when faced with gaslighting, scapegoating, and psychological abuse, Christians are called to respond with love and truth - not to take the bait of radicalization and violence.

6. Community Matters The growing community of believers rediscovering genuine faith is cause for celebration. We need each other for encouragement, accountability, and authentic spiritual growth.

Scripture References

1 John 4:4-6 - “You belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.”

Quotes Worth Remembering

“I’ve read hundreds of books, self-help, done tons... but there’s nothing more empowering than I’ve ever read than the good news and scripture.”

“We miss the cadence in someone’s voice, their expressions, their face. I think all those things matter.”

“If we ain’t repenting, then we ain’t doing it. We have to be humble. That’s me. That’s you. That’s all of us.”

“We don’t deserve this grace. We don’t deserve Jesus Christ. Quotes and Insights

On the Nature of Conspiracy Theories:

“The thing about conspiracy theories is they are a narrative. They are a story. And people who are pursuing conspiracy theories are looking for a sense of control, and that’s a way of idolatry.” - Pavel

On Human Nature and Meaning:

“We as humans—that’s basically what it means to be human—is to look for purpose, try to understand reality, trying to find meaning and purpose in your life and the world around you. And this pursuit is really innate to every human being.” - Pavel

On Spiritual Participation:

“The stories that people absorb in their culture, the way they’re brought up, ultimately shapes their soul. But then also through their consent to it, it changes their spirit. This is how we also connect to the spiritual world through these stories.” - Pavel

On Ancient Myth and Modern Reality:

“They weren’t just believing these stories—they were participating in a spiritual reality through their consent to these narratives. That’s exactly what’s happening today with conspiracy theories.” - Brandon

On Gnosticism and Secret Knowledge:

“The danger of Gnosticism is this idea that there’s secret knowledge that only the enlightened few can access. That runs completely counter to the Gospel, which is openly proclaimed for all.” - Pavel

On Control and Anxiety:

“When we’re obsessively consuming conspiracy content, we’re trying to manufacture a sense of control in a world that feels chaotic. But God calls us to trust Him, not to figure everything out.” - Brandon

On Humility and Limits:

“There should be some sense of humility here to accept that we don’t know everything and we can’t know everything. Job was asking God for an explanation, and He really didn’t give one.” - Pavel

On Church Community:

“Why can’t I go up to my pastor and be like, ‘Pastor, there’s some crazy stuff circulating on the internet. Can we talk about that as a body?’ Because we undervalue or under-represent the spiritual dynamic of it.” - Brandon

On Justice and Faith:

“We need to put faith in our Heavenly Father that justice comes. The danger is when we get into vigilantism, when we think we’re going to solve the thing. You don’t just go and judge people independently.” - Brandon

Invitation to Action

This week, examine your own relationship with information:

Are you consuming content that draws you closer to God or creates anxiety and suspicion? Take an honest inventory of the sources you’re engaging with regularly.

Practice biblical discernment: Before accepting or sharing a theory, ask yourself: Does this align with Scripture? Does it produce the fruit of the Spirit or the works of the flesh? Am I seeking control or trusting God?

Engage your church community: If conspiracy theories or current events are causing confusion, bring these conversations to your elders and fellow believers. We weren’t meant to navigate truth alone.

Focus on what you can control: Rather than obsessing over global conspiracies, disciple your family, serve your community, and model Christ in your daily life. This is where your true influence lies.

Connect With Pavel Ivanchuk

Christian, Husband, Father, Deacon, Architect. Deconstructing the world. If we’re looking to Christ as our model, we have to follow his behavior. Christ didn’t come to condemn others—so why are we doing this to one another?”

“We can be convicted. I’ve never felt more convicted in my life about anything as I do what I’ve discovered in the Word and in Christ. We want to share that conviction, that fire, that love we have for Scripture, for God, for Christ. But if we’re going to condemn people and attack people individually, we’re going to push them away.”

“The Holy Spirit convicts—that’s what it does. We don’t need to condemn. God in Christ when He returns will be the judge. We are called to be convicted by the power of the Holy Spirit. Our job is to love, encourage, build up, and restore gently.”

Invitation to Action

Examine Your Heart This Week: When you encounter sin in yourself or witness it in others, pause and ask yourself: Am I responding with conviction or condemnation? Am I building up or tearing down? Does my response reflect Christ’s redemptive mission or am I judging? Choose mercy over judgment. Choose restoration over destruction.

Develop Your Personal Relationship With God: Open your Bible and read it. It’s the most effective door to knowing God’s character and developing authentic relationship with Him. Let Scripture be your foundation so the Holy Spirit can convict and guide you.

Ways to Connect

Email: orderwithin@substack.com
God-Centered Merchandise: https://rdbl.co/4gCqi5z
Support the Show: buymeacoffee.com/orderwithin

If this message about choosing conviction over condemnation resonated with you, please share it with someone who might need to hear it. I haven't cried this much since my father passed away. What we witnessed this week has shattered something in me—and I believe it should shatter something in all of us who call ourselves followers of Christ.

The Awakening to Evil

It started with uncovering a brutal murder just thirty minutes from where I was living. An innocent girl, coming home from work on an evening train, stabbed in the neck and killed. The senselessness of it. The racial component layered into the crime. The way local government and media intentionally tried to cover it up.

But what broke me wasn't just the crime itself—it was watching the corporate media blame those who dared report on it. They called conservatives the problem for "stoking racial tensions." They gaslit us into believing that speaking truth about evil somehow makes us the villains.

Then came Charlie Kirk. A man who embodied Christian principles, who had built an incredible organization by age 31 glorifying God and demonstrating the values this country was founded upon. He was on campus, literally having a debate about senseless political violence with college students. Two days after he helped blow up the story of that murdered girl, he was shot in the neck. Another brutal murder. Another violent, politically motivated act.

But here's what revealed the true depth of evil we face: the celebrations that followed.

When Humanity Dies

I watched people on social media—TikTok, Facebook, Reddit—dancing, laughing, mocking a man's death. I saw them celebrate and glorify murder itself. In our own Senate, when they tried to hold a moment of silence for Charlie, Democrats went berserk. They wouldn't even allow that basic human decency.

There is no greater evil in this world than celebrating death and murder. That is the epitome of evil, and it revealed something I should have known all along as someone reading Scripture deeply for the first time: This truly is spiritual warfare.

This isn't about politics. It never has been. That's the lie, the deception—that this is some left versus right thing. It's not. It's right versus wrong. Good versus evil. Light versus darkness.

The Fallen World Revealed

I've been foolish to think this was about political ideology. When people can watch a man dedicated to Christian service get murdered and then celebrate it, mock his family, refuse even a moment of silence—we're not dealing with political disagreement. We're dealing with something far darker.

These people are possessed by demons. I can't believe I ever thought that was made up. Satan is real, and his influence is undeniable when you see human beings celebrating the brutal death of someone who spent his life serving God and trying to bridge divides through honest dialogue.

The morality of our world has been completely inverted. Good is considered evil. Evil is celebrated as good. Righteousness is hated. The criminals are treated as victims while the actual victims are blamed for their own suffering.

This is what happens when you abandon God and deny His truth.

No Going Back

What happened this week has changed me permanently, and it should change all of us. There's no returning to normal. There's no "getting back" to some previous state of civility. The people who celebrated Charlie Kirk's death, who mocked his family, who refused even basic human decency—they've revealed who they truly serve.

If you can still support or make excuses for what we witnessed, if you're still talking about "both sides" or trying to explain this away through political frameworks, then you've been captured by evil. Your soul is lost. There's no other way to say it.

This isn't hyperbole. This is the spiritual reality we now live in.

The Call to Spiritual Arms

So what do we do? How do we respond to this darkness?

First, we must repent and return to God. We need to get right with our Creator, humble ourselves, and repent of our own sins. No sin is unforgivable except rejection of the Holy Spirit. God wants our humility and repentance—He will forgive everything else.

Second, we must unite as believers. No more quibbling over denominational differences. Orthodox, Protestant, Catholic—none of that matters anymore when we're facing this level of evil. We have to understand what we are against and stand together as followers of Christ.

Third, we must preach the Gospel with fire. No more passivity. No more hiding. No more fear of offending people or losing our comfortable positions in this material world. If we prioritize our earthly security over speaking truth and standing for righteousness, we've already lost.

Fourth, we must call out evil for what it is. No more tolerating lies. No more submitting to gaslighting. No more allowing people to invert morality without consequence. We must cast out demons in Christ's name because that's exactly what we're dealing with.

The Light in the Darkness

I know this is heavy. I know many of you are grieving and mourning as I am. We should grieve. This was a collective trauma, a sacred moment that reveals the true state of our nation and our world.

But here's what I know with absolute certainty: Evil will never overcome God's goodness. God always finds a way to make good come from darkness. I don't think they've realized what they've done by murdering a devoted Christian in cold blood and then celebrating it. This is going to wake people up in ways they never anticipated.

Christ is rising. Christ is returning—in us. He must rise in us. We are the risen, resurrected people by the power and glory of God. We must anchor this truth into our being and live with the courage that Christ gives us, because with Him, all things are possible.

The Time Has Come

This is a sacred moment in our country's history. We all have a choice, and there's no going back. No more playing it safe. No more staying silent. No more allowing evil to masquerade as good while we do nothing.

Take the time you need to mourn and gather your thoughts, but be ready. Decide where you stand, because this truly is good versus evil, and it's only going to get worse before it gets better.

The only way we overcome the darkness is through the light of Christ. Not through political action, not through human wisdom, not through compromise with evil—but through the power of God alone.

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes." - Ephesians 6:10-11

"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." - Matthew 5:14-16

The time has come. This tragedy will wake up more people than the enemy realized. The darkness of this world will be overwhelmed by the light of Christ, and we will drive out this evil—but only if we recognize the spiritual nature of this battle and respond accordingly.

We can do this. We will overcome darkness by the power of God and Christ alone. That's the only way, and that's our path out of this mess.

"'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the Lord Almighty." - Zechariah 4:6

Christ is Lord. Let Him rise in you.

This Written Reflection emerges from a place of deep grief and spiritual awakening. If you're feeling the same weight of what we've witnessed, know that you're not alone. The time for spiritual passivity has ended. The battle is real, but so is our victory in Christ.

Share

Finding Hope and Strength in Christ Amidst Tragic Times | Ep. 127

Rest in Peace Charlie Kirk

Brandon Ward 😎

In this episode of Order Within, I reflect on the tragic murder of Charlie Kirk and the disturbing celebration of his death in the media. The importance of keeping faith in Christ and not letting the presence of evil disillusion or silence believers is more crucial than ever.

Swift Justice is needed, but we must model Christ’s teachings, rise above the noise, and spread a message of hope. We must underscore the importance of spiritual warfare, encouraging prayer, studying scripture, and drawing strength from Christ.

Drawing from recent personal study of Ephesians, remember we're in a spiritual battle and to find courage in Christ rather than despair in darkness.

Timestamped Chapters

[00:00] Opening & Tribute to Charlie Kirk

[02:51] The Reality of Evil in Our World

[03:25] God's Spirit Calling Us Forward

[05:08] Rising Above Fear and Addiction to Outrage

[06:46] Christ's Example: Strength Without Violence

[07:51] The Power of the Risen Christ

[09:11] Understanding Spiritual Warfare

[10:50] Our Role in God's Harvest

[12:21] Standing for Justice Without Vigilantism

[14:19] Living as Christ's Army

[16:08] Finding Truth Through the Holy Spirit

[17:31] Prayer for Strength and Courage

[19:24] Encouragement and Final Thoughts

Call to Action

If you're struggling with grief, fear, or despair over current events, take time to be still with God. Insights

Brandon: "When we view our marriage as a means to serve God together, as our marriage sits under that umbrella of God, it's the foundation sits on His foundation... it changes you in different ways."

Ashley: "Most of us are full of pride fighting to be right, not fighting for what's right. We just wanna be right... it's not the pursuit for truth then."

Together: We discovered the Bible provides intellectual, emotional, and spiritual stimulation at every level - "It's a metaphysical experience" that gives context to why the world operates as it does and offers the only framework that truly makes sense of human relationships and suffering.

Ways to Connect

Main Publication:

Order Within
Order Within discusses how God can help us to navigate a world falling further into depression, corruption, and crises—Christian-centered content in layman's terms.

By Brandon Ward 😎

Email: orderwithin@substack.com

Merchandise: https://rdbl.co/4gCqi5z

If our story resonated with you, share it with a couple who needs hope in their marriage or someone questioning faith.
